There are required courses for particular groups of teachers. Here are the various elementary requirements:
- Elementary Writing Teachers: Attend a minimum of one of the “Scholastic” ELA courses on 6+1 Traits
- Elementary Math Teachers: Attend “Math Instructional Design” (offered continually)
- Social Studies Teachers grades 4-6: TCI: Social Studies Interactive Resources Grades, Oct. 17
- Science Teachers grades 4-6: Lifeskills Training and Science Curriculum Mapping, Oct. 17; Picture Perfect Science, Nov. 4
- Student Services Staff: All Student Services staff will receive an email on Monday, October 6th, clarifying session requirements. Please use this email to guide your registration. If you have any questions, please reply directly to that email.
- Special Area Teachers (Art, Music, PE): Quality Assessments for Student Growth both Oct. 17 and Nov. 4th. Follow directions from your department chair to complete the remainder of your schedule.

Due to the personalized nature of the schedule, there may be small chunks of time (10-30 minutes) between sessions. Session Description: This book study will use Explicit Instruction by Anita Archer and Charles Hughes to guide continued learning throughout the fall on what the research says about lesson design and delivery and effective practice opportunities. We will read, discuss, practice, and share as we grow together in our understanding of explicit instruction.

Session Description: This session will provide an opportunity for elementary Intervention Specialists to re-engage with the sub skills and scaffolds required for students to successfully access grade-level content standards. We will delve more deeply into specific strands in order to really understand and finalize the work. The second half of the session will focus on an introduction to what we know from research about how the brain learns, effective instructional strategies, and links to explicit instruction and SDI. The introduction to explicit instruction should wet your appetite to join the fall book study (see related session: Maximizing Your Teaching Time: Book Study on Explicit Instruction).

We will delve more deeply into the "I Can" statements and continue this important work.
Occupational Therapy Work Session
